I wasn’t nervous for our wedding, how could I have been? I was marrying the man who I had always known was my soul mate. I was stressed about planning, as is everyone, but not for my future, or my marriage to Steve.
I tend to spy on our couples during wedding days. This is such a personal business… we spend hours and hours with our brides and grooms on their wedding days and I can’t imagine not getting to know them outside of Facebook. About a half hour into Devon’s and Bob’s portraits I spied on them, I listened to their conversation while they were walking. I heard Devon say to Bob, “I kept getting nervous, but every time I did I would just think about how I was marrying you and I felt so happy.”
We’re not wedding photographers because we love weddings, we do this because we love marriages. It’s easy to get so caught up in the planning that you forget that a wedding is meant to show your family and friends how much you love each other… but a marriage is where you show each other how strong your love is.
We’re fortunate to document the start of a marriage and the beautiful things that are said out of love. That quote by Devon is one that I’ll never forget.
