We got to travel to South Seas Island Resort on Captiva Island to photograph Abigail and Anthony’s wedding. If you’ve never been to Sanibel and Captiva Islands, you are definitely missing out on an amazing and unique area of the USA. We thought it would have more of a resort feel, like many of the “resort towns” in southwest Florida, but as we were driving in, we found that it was a very lush and natural tropical paradise.
We spent a couple days before Abigail and Anthony’s wedding doing some exploring. We scouted portrait locations, witnessed a heron fight (see below), learned about the history of the area, and ate some ridiculously good food. We watched the sunset over the Gulf of Mexico with Margaritas in hand as we talked about how lucky we are that this is our lives.
Abigail and Anthony got some rain on there wedding day. In fact, as we were starting the first look, the heaviest downpour of the day happened. Anthony and Abigail took it in stride. We are firm believers that it is good luck.
It showered off and on for the rest of the day, but we were all lucky enough to have the ceremony outside looking out on the water. As the evening approached, the rain left and the sun came out. We joined Abigail, Anthony, and their family and friends on a sunset cruise around Captiva Island. As we watched the sunset, we took a couple more portraits, and again, had an overwhelming feeling of being the luckiest people on earth.
