Two days ago, we blogged Alyssa and Jon’s engagement session, which we shot last week. Today, we are blogging their wedding, which we shot 3 weeks ago. This is why we love Alyssa and Jon. Forget what everyone tells you you should do, and do what is right for you.
When we first met Alyssa, it took about 5 minutes for us to realize she was the perfect bride for us. Since Jon was in Texas for his job in the Army, we got to meet Alyssa’s mom, who Alyssa called her “fill in groom.” They were both so unbelievably nice. Alyssa really is one of the nicest, most genuine people we know, and we looked forward to her wedding since the day we met her.
Since we wouldn’t be able to meet Jon until their wedding day (he literally came back two days before their wedding), Alyssa described him a bit to us. She told us how excited and nervous he was for their wedding, and that we would love him when we finally got to meet him. Alyssa wasn’t kidding…..Jon’s awesome, and he was really really excited and nervous.
As Jon and I waited for the elevator to take him down to their first look, he pulled out a small bottle of Jack Daniels that Alyssa gave him as part of a “Groom Survival Kit” and asked me if it was okay to drink it. It made me laugh a little, partly because it wasn’t up to me if he drank it or not, and partly because Alyssa made the right call by including it in the kit.
It sounds strange, but Julianne and I always talk about how other people’s weddings are our memories too. It really is true, some of the most memorable moments of my life occurred at other people’s weddings. There are a number of stories from Alyssa and Jon’s wedding that I’d love to share here, but that would take all night to type up, and we want you to get to the photos.
